After Faetor’s Doom, many people tried to escape Noubos, but not many found a way. With most of the technology destroyed, scattered around and swallowed within the sands, there were few ways to leave. While some faetorians tried to gather scattered pieces of technology to build a spaceship to flee, some decided to stay behind, hoping that they could conquer Faetor back or build a new place, reviving the glory they once had. Survival in Noubos was difficult before, but now it has become near impossible. One needed to wander through dozens of miles of sand until finding a small village. Most of them were constructed in cave systems and canyon walls, where the desert storms can’t reach as deeply.
Some animals are well adapted to those deserts, such as the big cyborg scorpions, used to transport cargo from one village to another. Sand Merchants travel around those small communities, selling important items. Many people make a living as treasure hunters, venturing through the dangerous sands in search of valuable artifacts to sell, especially for spaceships that come from other planets. But Noubos is a very dangerous place, especially now. The Doom infested the land with radioactivity, which is deadly in the form of storms. Everyday, in some regions of the planet, radioactive sandstorms are formed and move through hundreds of miles of desert. If someone is unfortunate enough to be caught, their skin starts to fall from their body, an excruciating pain affects the person’s nervous system and they die from shock. The only way to survive one of those sandstorms, known as Flaying Sands, is covering the whole body with resistant armor, or protecting oneself inside a sealed room. Every village in Noubos has a sealed basement, in case a sandstorm rises in the horizon. Unfortunately, for the people of Noubos, this is not the only danger around. Faetor might have crumbled down, but it still exists beneath the sands, as a memorial to its own former glory. There, the AI still lives, protected by the Cult of Faetor. The members are the people who bowed to the AI and were “completed” by its technology, becoming deadly cyborgs.
