Many sentient creatures inhabit this world, be it the Claigard continent, or the realms beyond the great ocean. Not only is the physical world inhabited, but also other planes of existence, where the manifestation of gods and spirits spend most of their time.
In Claigard, the supernatural is not as powerful as in the other realms. The continent is not as nourishing, resulting in minor creatures, such as huldras, askafroa, draugar, and some rarer mythical creatures, such the mighty troll or the regal griffon. Still, an ordinary man would be hard-pressed to fight these creatures one-on-one, and so the wilderness remains wild. Exploring their lands is something within the capabilities of the human tribes, as long as a group of adventurers displays teamwork.
Beyond the great ocean, however, fertile lands house enormous humanoids. Their territories are roughly divided into regions with different ‘climates’. In the fiery lands of Muspelheim, these giants call themselves eldjötnar; in the icy lands of Niflheim, they are the hrimthursar; and in the chaotic fields of Jötunheim, the most powerful of them all, those who rival the gods, the jötnar remain.
In the other planes of existence, such as Valhalla, the forces of order lie in eternal preparation for the fabled final conflict, and pull the strings on the physical world. What exactly goes on there is something only the gods and their chosen know, but even they might not fully understand.
