Few things are certain in life. One of them is that all things must come to an end. Every journey has a final destination. Some avoid it with everything they have; others embrace it. You either wear out or rust out. This was Sunathaer Caex’s final moment: facing the Triumvirate of Undeath, the trio of liches Vox’shax, Kuat’ze, and Barator.
Archmage Savros, through powerful divinations, tracked all three of the Triumvirate of Undeath. As powerful as he is, he still needed aid to face the three. Savros recruited Sunathaer Caex on the ultimate quest of ending all three liches before they could regenerate. Though old and proud, Caex was no fool, and along with him was Savros, one of the most powerful spellcasters of their time; they could finally end this menace. Finding and slaying Barator and Kuat’ze was challenging, but nothing Caex and Fintir Malsvir couldn’t handle. Fighting through hordes of undead, Sunathaer finally reached Vox’shax. This foe, however, proved to be too much of a challenge for the aging adventurer. The dragonkin fell in battle against Vox’shax, as many adventurers have before, but only due to Savros’ betrayal. The archmage survived, as did Vox’shax.
Savros returned with news of Sunathaer’s death, reaching his son, Donaar Caex, the dragonslayer Usgrit, and even celestials, such as Zhandra, the arch aasimar. Though the mission wasn’t a complete success, Kuat’ze and Barator would both regenerate at the same place as Vox’shax, creating the perfect opportunity to end the Triumvirate of Undeath once and for all. The three heroes banded together to end what Sunathaer had started, seizing the opportunity of a lifetime. Nothing short of Alphariox could be worse than the band of liches.
P.S.: it’s been an honor writing for you for the past three years. I wish you all the best – Gribel, Emeritus Loremaster
